Passion

I believe that “my success lies behind your success.” Behind in this context means three things:

1. I am standing behind you – you are at the forefront – I do not expect, or desire, to be the hero. Your success is your success.

2. I am behind you pushing you forward. I provide inspiration, advice, and sometimes a kick in the rear to keep you moving forward.

3. My success comes only after you have succeeded – I do not feel like I have been successful unless, and until, you succeed.

As a consultant and coach, I think a lot about leadership and strategy. My career purpose is to “Build Personal and Organizational Leaders” who can help their organizations achieve their vision.

I have a passion for learning and teaching. I read dozens of books each year, along with dozens of blogs and magazines, and I like to pass along the knowledge I have gleaned.

I believe that “Leaders Aren’t Born. Leaders Aren’t Made. Leaders Follow a Process.” In other words, people are or are not leaders; they do leadership activities and follow “The Process of Leadership.” And like every process, the Process of Leadership has inputs, steps, and outputs and can be documented, taught, and learned.

I have worked in organizations large and small as an executive and manager; in stable and turnaround situations; and as an independent consultant in publishing, healthcare, and other fields. My career began as a process improvement specialist for a newspaper printer. After I received a Master’s Degree in Quality Assurance, I moved to Nashville, TN, to work for an airline ticket printer (if you didn’t know, airlines used to issue paper tickets). I was fortunate to join Ingram Book Company to turn around their innovative but struggling digital print operation and ran that operation for several years. I moved to the healthcare arena and worked for a decade as a manager and consultant focusing on helping healthcare companies improve their billing processes.

Immediately before starting Visionary Results, I was CEO of Professional Credential Services and Executive Vice President of Virtual, Inc. I was an independent consultant helping organizations with process improvement and management issues.

I have created several frameworks, including the “Infinite Ideas” brainstorming methodology, “The Process Innovation Framework,” “The Process of Leadership,” and the “Visionary Results System.”
