Employee engagement doesn't create customer satisfaction
Employee engagement programs miss the point when they treat motivation as the output. The real question is whether your employees can actually solve customer problems without waiting for permission. Recognition and feedback matter, but autonomy matters more — a motivated employee who has to ask three people before helping a customer isn't engaged; they're managed.
